Golden, chewy homemade Soft Pretzels finished with Himalayan Pink Salt — a classic after-school snack that's fun to make with kids and ready in about 45 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water (110°F)
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 large egg plus 1 tablespoon water (egg wash)
- Himalayan Pink Salt for sprinkling

- Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar
- let sit 5 minutes until foamy
- Add flour, salt, and melted butter
- mix until dough forms
- knead 5–6 minutes until smooth
- Place in oiled bowl
- cover and rise 30–45 minutes until doubled
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C)
- bring water and baking soda to a boil in a wide saucepan
- Divide dough into 8 pieces
- roll each into a 20-inch rope
- shape into pretzel form
- Dip each pretzel in baking soda bath for 30 seconds
- place on parchment-lined baking sheets
- Brush with egg wash
- sprinkle generously with Himalayan Pink Salt
- Bake 12–14 minutes until deep golden brown
- cool 5 minutes
- serve warm
