A fragrant, spiced milk tea brewed with Organic Cardamom Pods, ginger, and warming spices — a comforting homemade chai with rich aroma and bold flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups whole milk (or milk of choice)
- 2 black tea bags or 2 teaspoons loose black tea
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced or crushed
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick (or 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
- 2-3 tablespoons sugar or honey, to taste
- A few black peppercorns, optional
Directions
- Combine water, crushed cardamom pods, ginger, cloves, and cinnamon stick in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat
- Reduce heat and simmer for 3-4 minutes to let the spices infuse
- Add the black tea and milk, then return to a gentle boil
- Reduce heat and simmer for another 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chai turns a rich amber color
- Stir in sugar or honey to taste
- Strain into mugs and serve hot
